Recreation

Hoosick Falls has a surprising amount of recreational resources for a community of our size. Village and town residents and visitors can choose from active-lifestyle facilities for golf, skating, fishing, hiking, swimming, biking, soccer, and more. There's also plenty to do if leisure is more your style, from art galleries, to antiquing, to summer band concerts and Shakespere in Wood's Park.

Hoosick Falls Country Club

Morning dew on hole 6

A non-profit, member-owned facility open to the public. The Hoosick Falls Country Club is a 9-hole golf course established in 1910. The course resides in the heart of the Village of Hoosick Falls and demonstrates all that golf should be; a challenging well-maintained course, with a friendly atmosphere, good food, and terrific panoramic views of the surrounding hillsides of the Hoosic River valley. The clubhouse is open year-round for dinner Thursday through Saturday. For banquets and special events, this full-service facility is available for rental 7 days a week. If winter sports are more your style, our hilly course is excellent for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding followed by a warm toddy by our woodstove.

Town of Hoosick Swimming Pool

Swimming pool

It is located in the center of the Village near tennis, basketball, and playground facilities and an ice cream parlor. A perfect spot to escape the summer heat, or take a swim after a game on the courts. Like all municipal pools, there are a few rules to be aware of before coming to the facility: Children 10 years of age and younger must be accompanied by a responsible adult (14 years-old or older), cell phones and cameras are not allowed inside pool area or facilities, food and drink is allowed in picnic area only—no glass containers, Swimsuits only—no cut-off shorts or pants, Children using assistive flotation devices must remain in shallow end accompanied by a parent or guardian, no diapers.

The Hoosic River Greenway

Hoosic River Greenway

Located along 2 miles of the east bank of the Hoosic River through the Village of Hoosick Falls, the greenway offers a comfortable gravel-paved path to enjoy a walk or bike ride through the scenic beauty of the Hoosic Valley. The greenway also offers access points to the river for fishing and other water sports; or just bring a favorite book, picnic basket, or bird-watching gear and sit beneath the shady areas off-path. Future improvements plan to add other amenities like excersise stations and gathering facilities along the greenway. The greenway is open year-round and can be accessed from several points through the Village. There are no motorized vehicles allowed on the greenway. The only exception is the northern section which allows snowmobile use—only when snow is a minimum of 6", through an annual agreement with the Hoosick Trail Masters Snowmobile Club.

Town of Hoosick Ice Rink

Reynolds-Gilchrest Rink

Located in the heart of the Village, adjoining the golf course and the Town Athletic Fields. The Reynolds-Gilchrest Rink is a year-round facility. In colder months it is open for skating and hockey. In warmer months the facility is open for community events, concerts, private parties, and the annual Riot at The Rink youth wrestling tournament and camp. The tournament brings teams from around the country to learn and compete. The facility has modern restrooms, skate rentals, and a snack bar. For specific facility information, visit the rink web site.
